In VAMANA AVATAR, Lord Vishnu appeared before King Bali and asked for 3 paces of land.
Bali, known for his generosity, agreed ..... unaware of the divine play that was about to unfold.
Pleased by King Bali's generosity in donating, Lord Vishnu offered him a boon, Bali. asked Vishnu to PROTECT HIS KINGDOM FOREVER
Vishnu agreed
This turn of events led Lord Vishnu to leave Vaikunth Dham and stay in Paatal Lok by disguising himself as the doorkeeper of King Bali
Meanwhile, Goddess Lakshmi became restless because of Vishnu’s absence from Vaikuntha, their abode.
She came to Earth disguised as a Brahmin woman and told Bali that her husband had gone away for some work. She requested shelter from the King.
Bali welcomed her, gave her shelter and took care of her.
And something remarkable happened.
PAATAL LOK PROSPERED LIKE NEVER BEFORE
And it was due to 2 big reason....
The goddess of wealth, DEVI MAHALAXMI was there.
And the preserver of wealth LORD VISHNU was standing at the gate.
Bali had unknowingly brought together two things every kingdom needs
WEALTH AND SOMEONE TO PROTECT IT
King Bali gradually became deeply reliant on his newfound sister, Devi Mahalakshmi, for her understanding and wisdom about wealth.
He began valuing Lakshmi’s wisdom hugely
Then came the full moon day of the Shravana month.
Devi Mahalakshmi tied a SACRED THREAD around Bali’s wrist, praying for his protection and happiness.
Touched by her affection, Bali offered her a wish.
She asked him to free her husband ....the gatekeeper !!
Bali was confused. He could not imagine that the humble gatekeeper was her husband.
Then Lord Vishnu and Goddess Lakshmi revealed their true identities.
Bali was shocked.
He immediately requested Lord Vishnu to return to Vaikuntha with Goddess Lakshmi.
And this is where the story becomes interesting for investors.
Most people think WEALTH CREATION MEANS FINDING THE RIGHT INVESTMENT
But a portfolio doesn't become great merely by accumulating wealth.
IT BECOMES GREAT WHEN WEALTH IS PRESERVED AND MANAGED WISELY
Wealth needs two things:
LAKSHMI .... THE WEALTH
VISHNU ....the DISCIPLINE and PROTECTION to PRESERVE IT.
A kingdom filled with treasure, but without a gatekeeper, remains vulnerable.
The same applies to our wealth.
When we start earning, our first thought is:
“ HOW DO I CREATE WEALTH? "
So we look for investments.
More funds.
More stocks.
More opportunities.
But after a point, the question changes:
" HOW DO I PROTECT THE WEALTHY I HAVE ALREADY CREATED ? ”
That requires a different mindset.
Asset allocation.
Diversification.
Risk management.
Tax efficiency.
Regular reviews.
And, most importantly, the discipline to avoid decisions driven by greed and fear.
**Creating wealth is one job.**
**Protecting, managing and sustaining it is another.**
Perhaps the real question isn't:
“Where should I invest my money?”
It is:
“WHO IS STANDING AT THE GATE OF MY WEALTH?”
And perhaps this is why the story of Bali and Lakshmi feels so appropriate around **RAKSHA BANDHAN**.
